The Basics

Life happens — and sometimes things at home need your attention during work time. Whether it’s a family emergency, caring responsibilities, or just needing a little flexibility, we’ll always do our best to support you. This article explains what help is available and where to find more info in our policies.

What You Need to Do

  • Speak to your manager as soon as you can — the sooner we know, the easier it is to support you.
  • For sudden family emergencies, you may be able to take Emergency Leave — this is usually unpaid unless stated otherwise.
  • If you're a parent or carer, let us know — we may be able to agree short-term flexibility, even if we can’t offer formal leave.
  • Check the Employee Handbook for statutory entitlements like Parental Leave or Carer’s Leave (usually unpaid).
  • If things at home are affecting your wellbeing, see our support guide or speak to someone you trust at work.
