The Basics

If something at work doesn’t feel right — whether it’s about your working conditions, treatment by others, or anything else affecting your role — we want to know. Our grievance process helps ensure any problems or complaints are handled fairly, consistently and as quickly as possible.

What You Need to Do

  • Start with a chat. If you feel comfortable, speak to your manager informally first. Often, we can sort things quickly this way.
  • Keep a note. It helps to write down what happened and when, even if you're only raising it informally.
  • If that doesn’t work, or if the issue is more serious, you can raise a formal grievance in writing.
  • We’ll meet with you. You’ll be invited to a meeting to talk through your concerns. You can bring a colleague or union rep if you like.
  • You’ll get a written outcome. We’ll explain what we’re doing to resolve the issue — and you’ll have a right to appeal if you’re not satisfied.

FAQs

Q: What kinds of issues can I raise a grievance about?
A: Anything affecting your role — working conditions, pay, unfair treatment, bullying, discrimination, or health and safety concerns.

Q: What if the issue is with my manager?
A: You can speak to someone else more senior or another named contact in the policy — we’ll make sure your concern is heard fairly.

Q: Will it be kept confidential?
A: Yes, as much as possible. Only people who need to know will be involved, and we’ll keep a record of the case securely.
