The Basics

Everyone needs a break – and we want to make taking time off as simple as possible. This article explains how to request holiday, what to check before you do, and how holiday leave is approved. You’ll also find a link to the full Holiday Policy if you want the details.

What You Need to Do

  • Check your remaining holiday allowance with your manager.
  • Speak to your manager to agree your dates, giving as much notice as possible.
  • Submit your request in writing, or using the holiday booking form link below, and send to your manager.
  • Wait for confirmation before booking travel or accommodation – don’t assume time off is approved until confirmed.
  • If plans change, give notice as soon as you can so others can adjust.

How Do I book?

You can book holiday by completing the holiday form here: Holiday Booking Form

FAQs

Q: How much notice do I need to give?
A: It’s best to give at least twice the amount of time you want off. So if you want 1 week off, give 2 weeks’ notice.

Q: Can I carry unused holiday into next year?
A: Usually no – unless you were unable to take it due to sickness or another protected reason. Check with your manager.

Q: What if my holiday request is refused?
A: Your manager will explain why – usually because of business cover or clashing requests. Try to agree new dates together.
