The Basics

This policy covers how to use mobile phones at work, including company-issued phones and personal phones during working hours. It’s designed to keep everyone safe, productive, and respectful of others — whether you’re in the office, working remotely, or driving for work.

What You Need to Do

  • If you’ve been issued a work mobile, keep it safe, secure, and use it in line with company guidance.
  • Only make personal calls during working hours if it's allowed — keep it minimal and reasonable.
  • Don’t use your phone in meetings or training sessions — switch it off or keep it silent.
  • Never use a hand-held phone while driving. If driving is part of your job, use hands-free or wait until parked safely.
  • Report lost, broken or misused company phones to your manager straight away.

FAQs

Q: Can I use my personal phone at work?
A: Yes, if the company allows it — but keep it minimal, sensible, and don’t let it interrupt your work.

Q: What if I need to use my phone while driving for work?
A: You must use a hands-free kit or pull over somewhere safe. Hand-held use is against the law.
